Very very old 12 ga that needs a buttstock

I was gifted a very very old 12 ga double barrel shotgun and I don't know what do do with it. It needs a new butt stock which I'm capable of makng but the bores look pitted to me. The rest is functional but has a bit of play in the lock-up. The best I can find out from the proof marks is that it's made in Belguim.

What would you do, restore it or return it?

Don't shoot it until you have a gunsmith check it out.

How old is "very old" ? --- If it is old enough, pre 1900 or so, it may have twist steel barrels which can be a problem -- They can rust out between the inner bore and outer surface but still look fine -- Probably best as wall hanger unless you can identify the maker --
