    Browning BPS Trap Gun

Well after doing a lot of shopping around I settled on a new Browning BPS Trap Gun, LGS ordered it today, should be delivered in a couple of days but still have to wait for it 10 days.

Nice looking gun. Why did you want a pump for trap? I find a pump to be a pain in the butt for trap.

I have a BPS and it's a great shotgun. The action is smooth and the finish & wood are very nice IMO. The bottom eject works for me since I'm left handed - the shell don't eject across my line of sight.
I use my BPS for informal clay-busting with friends half-a-dozen times a year or so as time allows. For me it's more of a challenge using a pump-action over a semi-auto. If I was shooting in matches I might choose something else but for my need I'm very happy with my BPS. Good luck.

I used my Browning BPS for several years of trap growing up until I could afford a A390. It is a great gun. I still use it as my dove gun over my other shotguns.

I reload and I'm 73 years old, the bending over picking up empties is a pain now, Looked at a few single shot Browning BT99 and the Stoeger Gold Trap. the BPS is new and quite a bit cheaper than the BT99 and the Stoeger was lacking somehow.
Even the used guns were pricey plus the added cost having one shipped to a dealer.

I'm 36 and bending over is a pain. You can definitely get more bang for your buck with a pump.

You will enjoy the BPS....Browning has never cut corners on it. My 20 year old BPS has had dozens of cases of shells trough it.....still no problems and sill looks graet

Edit; Forgot to ask ..What length barrel did you go with? Raised comb or field stock?

Starting shooting trap many many years ago with a friends 870 Trap Gun did actually shop around for one but had limited funds I wanted to spend and found nothing in my price range, great shotguns, keep one close to the bed!
What need to do is set up my 12Ga press and crank out a couple hundred to see how this thing works

If he got the BPS trap its a 30" barrel and monte carlo stock.

One of the best shotguns i own. I also love the selector switch that moves the tangs out of the way, when not shooting doubles.

I did buy the trap model, looking forward to getting it out of jail and putting it to work. I was looking at the Winchester SXP trap but at 6.5 pounds to scared me off and the BPS price wise was right in my price range.

Haven't owned one, but the BPS should make a good trap gun. Pretty heavy, bottom eject. I suspect you can get that ejecting right into your hand on singles.

Fun fact: the Trap models still have the Single/Repeater switch at the base of the magazine tube/front of the receiver which allows easier loading when shooting singles. This switch disconnects the carrier so you don't have to push the forend forward a smidge to load a single shell directly into the breech.

This was actually available on early field grade BPS models as well. Was useful on trap singles; pull a shell from pouch, use thumb and index finger to insert directly into breech (BPS pointed downrange, right side up and slightly muzzle down), close action on my turn, bang, open action, placing hand far enough back to be able to have the hull fall directly into palm of hand. Repeat.

For doubles trap I'd just flip it to "R" and she'd be good to go.
