    Shotgun Shells

Quick question - do empty shot shells have any value. My wife who sells on ebay, and we sell at gun shows, is being asked by a friend to sell 5 copy boxes full of used shotgun shells. I don't think anyone would buy them and I don't want them in my garage or in my booth at the show taking up space.

Thus given the cheap cost of new shot shells, is there a market for shells?

    Thanks Team.

It really depends on the hulls. If you have any 2 1/2" .410, any 28g, old 12g Active hulls, or old Winchester AAs I'm interested. 12g Remington STSs and new style Winchester AAs are always in demand.

Yes they do, but only if your hulls are good ones that can be safely reloaded. Popular ones are Winchester AA, Remington STS, Remington Gun Club and Federal Gold Medal.

The shotgun range where I shoot (Coyote Valley) sells empty hulls too.

I'm not sure how much though, you might want to check at web sites like trapshooters.com where people buy used hulls for reloads.

No discernable value and you're probably correct. More of a problem to sort thru them than they are worth and you surely "don't want them in your[my] garage or in your[my] booth at the show taking up space."

I don't know anything about tracking .gifs or if he is using them but, he is not a spam account. I will stake my reputation on it. In fact, he is in the shooting industry on top of being a California gun owner.

I'm very familiar with tracking gifs and that account had one in it's signature, as well as using a known spammer IP address.

I'm not sure who you thought it was but the IP was definitely not from California.

You can usually find once fired hulls on Gunbroker dot com to get an idea what the various hulls are worth "retail".

Here is a guy I have bought from in the past, probably the least expensive, but not always there.

Interesting. Grantar2 has sent me his CA address and phone number in the past. I know that his wife sells at Socal gun shows. I will probably be meeting up with him and his wife at SHOT.

As far as IP addresses go, I believe that, on occasion, satellite internet service can bounce mine all over the country. But, I don't know what type of service the OP has.

I'm thinking that there was a post which has been deleted, and there's some confusion about which account you guys are talking about.

CSACANNONEER, there has been a plague of spammers from all around the globe that have a habit of copying text from a previous post in the thread and then re-posting it(or finding a similarly worded thread from another forum and pasting the text from that) and adding a 1x1 pixel .gif img. These spammers are usually pretty obvious, not only because of the copy/paste, but because they don't copy the entire post or they quote another post in response so the context of the wording makes absolutely no sense.

They typically get banned and their posts deleted within 1-5 posts.

Unfortunately they seem to have switched to putting the 1x1 .gif image in their signatures so it's not so obvious to spot when you hit the quote button. However some browsers(and add-ons) have a habit of turning those 1x1 images into the broken image icon making them stick out like a sore thumb. There was one recently cleaned up that had around 20 posts.

Since there's no way one of those spammers would be allowed to get up to almost 700 posts like the OP(grantar2), that's why I think there's something missing in this conversation.

Here is link that will give you an idea what hulls are resellable and what they are worth.

Keep in mind that these are once fired. Pay attention to the details ie Winchester AA HS, 410 gauge ...ect....one hull is not the same as another hull even if they are made by the same company in the same gauge

You can generally get 2 to 10 cents a hull for once fire hulls in good shape. Personally, I shop and generally won't pay over 4 cent a hull for high-quality reloadable hulls in 12 gauge.

                            12g?

Figure a nickle a piece for Win AA or Rem STS (current models). About 1/2 that for Rem Gun Club of Fed.

A copy paper box is probably around 700 hulls. Clean 1X sorted "premium" hulls you're talking $35/box in 12g. Mish mash, probably zip.
                            Smaller gauge are worth more.

                              Ducks and sorter -

Once we do a little research on the ducks / geese and the sorter tray, figure we can sell those on eBay. They will package up ok. Not sure about the shells.

Thanks for all the feed back. Wrong forum but it begs the question is anyone interested.
