Benelli m3?

hey guys..

I was at an lgs and they have an benelli m3 with +2 rounds extension for $849.

I been in the market for a semi-auto shotgun.. I have been looking at the Benelli m2, remington 1100, mossberg 930.. with the 1100 and the 930's, I be in the ballpark of at least $700 before dros + tax.. and the m2's, they are in the $1200's.

should i opt for this one? the condition is pretty good. cause the new ones are $1300's and they have them also.. figure, with $849, is not an bad price to pay..

or should i just buy a new m3 or m2 instead?

I don't have the M3 but I can tell you the M2 is an awesome shotgun. My wife has the M2 Field Compact 12 gauge, and both of us shoot trap almost every weekend. She uses her M2 and I use my Supersport.

She puts around 300 rounds a week through hers, no problems at all. Shooting at this volume means I use what shells that is cheapest, the Benelli M2 ate them all without any issues.

At that price, I will get the M3 if I were you. But if you're considering a new shotgun, I will opt for the M2.

For the price, it's a good buy. Just make sure it's not one of the pump-only ones. They typically have a folding stock, IIRC.

A new M3 or a new M2 will cost you around $1300-1600. The biggest advantage of the M2 is weight and simplicity. Here's a question though, do you have a purpose in mind or are you looking for a safe queen? Like the M4, you're stuck with one barrel, a 19.75″. So if you're thinking about using it to hunt, shoot clay or even 3-Gun, you'd be better off with an M2.

The M3 is sorta like the red headed step child of the Benelli world.

Personally I would wait and save to get the M2. But if you like the M3 it seems like a good deal.

Awesome price! I love my M4 and would love to get a M3 to boot(due to the fact that you can switch between pump and semiauto like the old spas 12)!

I have had my M3 for the last 15 years....great Shotgun....not sure I use the ability to switch from pump to auto...but I like the idea it's there.

Only downer with the M3, is it doesn't have as many accessories out there as the M2, but in my opinion, it's a better gun.

Iv'e had 3 M2's and one M4.

I'd go M2, this is my second M2 at Taran Tactical for the works.


It's lighter than the M4, and no need to use the M3's manual racking function.

M3 is an awesome shotgun. Mine has a +2 extension and no pistol grip. That's a dam good price.

I've never used the pump feature on mine, and breaking down the gun is overly complicated. But it is a fantastic piece of machinery.

the purpose of this m3 would be a tactical shotgun/home defense.. Is not going to be a safe queen, is going to be used for sure.

the one I'm looking at is on consignment and it comes with the pistol grip, extended mag tube + ghost ring sights.. but the round count is unknown and it doesn't come with an box..

For the price alone, jump on it. Mine costs about $1,200.00 new and I got it for $1,000.00 at the time as the owner of the LGS is a friend of mine. It's a great gun so jump on it for sure.
