How do you carry extra boxes of shotshells?

When at a 3gun or tactical match, how do you carry 100-150 rounds?

Last match I had a fresh box of 25 walk away on me.

Just carry what you need on you and leave the rest locked up. It's better if you have someone with you to watch your stuff while you compete but I realize most of us can't as it's boring for others to watch us shoot.

I shoot ATA trap - not 3 gun or anything tactical - but I only carry 50 shells in my vest and lock the rest in my truck until I need them. I could fit all 100 shells in my vest but I don't want to carry the weight while I'm shooting. Otherwise I just carry them in one of those cheap plastic MTM ammo cans. Some people like those fancy leather shell carriers but I find those aren't necessary, unless you won it for free, which many do.

I would mind to take what I need but with 6 stages spread out hundreds of yards from my vehicle, it makes that impractical.

I think some type of range bag would work best but have yet to find a good one.

For most matches where I am not a match official, I use one of those Home Depot or OSH rolling carts.. I can put all the gear, ammo, and even a cooler on it and drag it everywhere..

but that stuff doesn't stop anybody from rummaging through your bags to steal your shells again.

The only solutions I can currently think of are: 1) Shoot with people you trust, but at competitions you don't always know everybody and whether or not they're trustworthy. 2) Lock your stuff up in a car, which could still be broken into, but unlikely just for shotshells. 3) Have somebody you definitely trust like a friend or family member hang onto your stuff while you shoot.

There's no doubt that putting shells in a cart or bag would be less inviting to a thief, especially just for shells, but it's not a true preventative measure if you know what I mean.

Not trying to get all nerdy technical about the whole thing but everybody I know of who has had ammo, equipment and/or guns stolen at the range left it out in the open and unsupervised. It happens to every serious shooter eventually. The guys I shoot ATA trap with have had all kinds of things stolen at the local clubs, including Perazzi's, Ljutic's, etc. etc. and these are $7,000 - $20,000 guns. If I walk away from the trap fields at the local clubs I never leave my gun alone on the rack unless my friend's are there and even then it's still a risk. Usually I'll lock my guns in my truck and cover them with a jacket or towels.

Wow. We all just cart stuff around in our converted jogging strollers and haven't had issues. I do usually shoot in squads with a few people that I know and then some unknowns.

As in... someone actually stole them? No offense, but sounds like the folks at this 3-gun group/match/whatever need a little more integrity...

Check out the range bags from Midway... there is one model that has a removable insert that is pretty compact for between stages, which might be what you need to easily carry a half dozen boxes of shells.

On sale for $39.99 right now it looks!

A regular 'ol backpack works fine. Get them cheap at back-to-school sales.

                  Or...

I can get 100+ rounds in the pockets on my tac pants. Not so great if you're running around, but you probably won't do much actual 'running'.

Add a security mesh bag to a backpack & chain it to a post.

Ok, I have tons of range bags. I guess I should have been more clear. I just need a small bag I can carry with me that will hold about 100 rounds of 12ga shot shell.

Yes, someone walked away with a box of 25 but I don't think it was intentional. A large group of us shoot ffederal number 8 so the boxes all look the same.

I already carry my shotgun and about 30 rounds of shotshell + my bump bag. This would just be for my overflow.

Zipper up the range bag where I keep my shells would keep hands from finding a box of shells from wandering.. I use a blind bag when I hunt, one of those would likely be what you are looking for..

Cant go wrong with the options mentioned by RayPDA above but here is what I take to the range/blind.
