    Kel-Tec KSG owners, be advised...

    Ran into this tidbit today...

"The properly installed forward grip slid off the gun rail while the user was ksgpumping the gun, resulting in the user shooting off part of his hand," the attorney wrote on a lawyers-only site.

The attorney was seeking advice and technical experts for the lawsuit. A friend saw the post and sent it to me.

A contact wound with a 12 gauge is devastating. There's no coming back from something like that.

The attorney cites the compact nature of the KSG, and the fact there is nothing on the rail to "prevent the grip from sliding off."

They also noted alleged problems with the forward grip: "Nothing but a polymer nipple secures this grip to the rail -- this nipple partially sheared off during first use."
If you run a KSG, be careful!

Also keep in mind he was using a cheap piece of crap like this:

Rather than something that uses proper bolts across the rail slots. That stupid little plastic nub you see gets tighted down by twisting the bottom of the grip, and it's the only thing holding that grip in place. That's not really the fault of the KSG, that's the fault of whoever decided that using such a piece of **** on a firearm was a good idea. With that sort of weak attachment it doesn't even belong on an airsoft gun.

agreed completely. i was just thinking, regardless of your choice of foregrip for the KSG... a couple inches of rail protector on the front part of rail would be cheap insurance against anything easily sliding off the front. wouldn't hurt anything anyhow... better safe than sorry.

i suspect VFGs (of any flavor) are not designed to work a shotgun action in the shearing motion that broke off that cheap Promag support in the first place...

There's a company who makes upgrade parts for the KSG, and one of them is an aluminum charging handle to prevent exactly this situation.

They likely aren't designed to work as such, but there are plenty available that offer far more secure mounting than that stupid pro-mag vfg with the little nipple. For example, the magpul RVG.

Those 2 bolts are going to provide a far better clamping surface than the stupid pro-mag nipple thing.

I don't see how Kel-tec can be found at fault here. It's not a design defect.

Sounds like the broken rails aren't new for the KSG... from 2012:

I guess that's why companies like Hi Tech CC mention it on their product descriptions.

I've had other issues with mine, like not being able to load both tubes to their max capacity. Also when loading the first couple of shells in either tube the spring seems to be temperamental if not inserted in an almost perfect angle it doesn't wanna load. also have had feeding issues even when I "rack it hard".

All the ammo capacity is cool but if it doesn't work when you need it you might pay the ultimate price.

The vertical forgrip you guys are showing is for an AR type weapon not a pump. So if the guy mounted this himself then Kel-Tec is not at fault if it was not OEM part that came with weapon or an accessory they sell.

The maker of the grip may have some fault as they should have had a disclaimer on the part since tacti-fool clowns will try putting anything on a gun these days.

Of course they will still try and file a nuisance suit hopping Kel-tecs' Insurance Company will offer something to make them go away.

If you're going to a gun fight, take a shotgun. If you can't take a shotgun, don't go.
