A300 disassembly & lube questions (help please)

Hi Beretta shotgun owners, I joined your ranks. Yep, I bought my first Beretta shotgun today.

A (slightly) used Camo A300. Are there any good videos out there on how to disassemble it, and what to lube?

Also I keep hearing about "shims", and how I can change the drop of the stock. If I'm reading it right, it doesn't come with extra shims, you just change the position one already installed. Do I have that right?

I took it out today and it cycled light target loads flawlessly.

    Any other tips?

If only I knew someone that that was a Beretta expert (Ray).

    ><

The shims are for adjusting DAC and Cast....some of the Berettas come with a full set...don't know if the 300 did.....more can be bought from Brownells and Midway if you need a differant one.

      You'll need a manual;

The shims work like Feeder said, easy to change, and fit most all the 300 series.

If you're shooting the monthly at Raahauges tomorrow, bring it - lol I'll likely be there too (unless I sleep in.)

They use 390/391/3901 shims, but don't come with a complement of them, unlike the A400, which does (not sure if the ones on an A400 work for other models, or vice versa.) Flipping it would change it from cast-off to cast-on, with no change in drop, unfortunately.

You mean the A300 Outlander, correct? I just bought my A300 about 2 months ago, and to change the drop and cast, you move the two shims around that are already in the stock.
Whatever you do, you need to make sure BOTH shims are in the same position and not mis-matched. There is one shim you can see between the stock and receiver, and another one under the nut that holds the stock to the receiver.
Also, I don't know why, but the first 2-3 times getting the action back together was a B&%^$, so obviously take your time and follow the video that RayPDA posted verbatim!
I have somewhere around 750-800 rounds of various ammo through mine without a single hiccup. low brass 7/8oz. loads, reloads, 3" BB, it eats through everything like it's meant to be!
            I fly everywhere backwards.

I have an older 3901. I'm not sure if this link will help you or not. I found it very helpful when I replaced the spring in the stock.

Introduction: Shotgunworld.com receives a lot of questions from shooters who have recently bought one of the popular Beretta gas-operated shotguns, and have questions about how to disassemble it for cleaning. I hope this will help. I will not give instructions for detailed disassembly of every...

I got the A300 Outlander (wood stock). Pretty straight forward breakdown, unscrew knob, remove forearm, remove barrel. Pull handle straight out of the bolt, sometimes takes a little fiddling to get the bolt out of the receiver. Tap out the single pin to remove the trigger group. When replacing the bolt during reassembly, make sure its centered in the receiver. Its much harder to reassemble to bolt with the trigger group in place due to not being able to guide the rod back into the cup it sits in at the end of the recoil spring. I find that pulling the bolt out isn't really necessary until after 3 or 4 hundred rounds, it doesn't really get that dirty back there. The dirtiest spot on the gun is the gas valve. It's supposed to be self cleaning, but I like to clean it whenever I pull the barrel. Just be aware when replacing the barrel that the rib doesn't go all the way back to the receiver, there will be a slight gap when the barrel is fully seated. I haven't found any videos specific for the A300 showng how to break down and reassemble, but there are a few for the A400, and there isn't that much difference between the two. I've probably put close to a couple thousand rounds through mine since June (trap and skeet) and haven't had a single hiccup yet shooting all sorts of target ammo. Enjoy!
