    Price and Value

    Hi,
I'm still new to firearms, just finished an analysis of the Remington 870 and Mossberg 500, and reading a lot what ppl more knowledgeable say about shotguns... What I see is that Franchi semi-autos are 2-3 times more expensive, although I hear about the reliability and versatility of the Remmys and Mossys everywhere... Seriously, what makes the Franchis so much more expensive? I like what I've read about Franchis, don't get me wrong. I would go for getting one if I wouldn't have read so much about the other two. Is it the brand, the Inertia Driven mechanism, the ease of cleaning, what?

So it's just a name? What real, practical values are better than Remington's or Mossberg's? Please read the original question carefully.

It costs more to make a semi than a pump. An auto trans is more than a stick shift in a car.

If you are talking about hunting or shooting clays the advantage of the semi is lower recoil, easier to keep tracking the bird, nothing to think about just pull the trigger again.

The advantage of a pump it's cheaper, more reliable in harsh environments. That being said people I know that hunt all over the world and can shoot any gun they want shoot Benelli semi auto.

Recoil vs. Gas the recoil guns are easier to maintain, and more reliable as a rule.

In a HD configuration you have a chance of a semi cycleing if you only have one hand, less recoil for heavier loads, The reliability factor if you are using a recoil gun is not an issue. A gas gun might quit you.

Pumps are cheaper, they won't cycle if you only have one hand, more recoil. If you live in a dirty location the pump could be a bit more reliable. If your house is dirty enough to choke your shotgun you are in trouble anyway.

            Good luck

I move slow but I make up for it by shooting poorly.

When I hit the lotto I'm only shooting factory.

Now these are really concrete, practical data. I thank you.
