Carrier Comp 7 rnd mag difficult to load

I just installed a Carrier Comp 7-round mag tube and the new spring in my Benelli M4. I can just barely get round #7 past the shell stop. It almost doesn't want to go in. Anyone else have that issue? Will the spring ease up so it doesn't take so much effort to get the last shell in? I might take the magazine apart and make sure the spring is fully captive in the plug that sits at the end of the tube. Or could it be that I pushed the plug too far down into the tube? Thanks for your feedback.

Without knowing more, there could be many reasons (spring, follower, plug, installation, etc.)

However, before doing any, try different shells. Shell length varies, and after adding up the differences of 6 or 7 shells in the tube, they could be a bit too long, which is not uncommon in some shotguns.

(BTW -- How long was your wait for Kip's Titanium tube?)

Thanks for the reply. I didn't keep exact track of the wait time but it was approx 3 months -- maybe a week over that.

        Thanks, enjoy your M4.

If different shells wouldn't resolve, checkout the somewhat similar discussion in this link. Hope it'd give you some troubleshooting ideas.

Hello, I'm new to the forum. I recently ( a couple of months ago) got my Benelli M4. My brother-in-law was nice enough to give me a Tacstar mag extension tube +2 for the Benelli M4. He's a dealer. I installed it. I was easy to install. I followed the simple instructions to the letter. I believe I...

Sure enough, it was the shells. Last night I loaded up some of the brown-box military 00 buck; the ones with the dark green casings. Those barely fit in the tube. Tonight I loaded 7 Remington 00 buck with no problem and about 1/16" to 1/8" to spare in the tube. Thanks for saving me some frustration. BTW, I could be imagining it, but I think I noticed that certain brass rims clear the shell stop more easily too.

I can tell you that the Federal Law Enforcement Tactical w/Flight Control 9 pellets are slightly longer than the 8 pellets. Equals one less round in my M4 w/Carrier Comp tube...just in case your shopping for defense ammo and considering this round.
