My 887 just got out of jail, what do you guys think about it a good home protection?

heard nothing but bad things about 887 when it first came out.

From comparing the two, you'll need to be a bit more careful and deliberate with cycling the pump action on the 887 versus the 870, in particular when chambering a new shell. The 887 is noticeably lighter than the 870, which is appreciated, but the action leaves something to be desired.

My buddy got one.

I don't like the plastic. Makes it feel like a movie prop gun.

Never shot one but only racked and played with it at their fire station. Again wasnt impressed.

I've had one for a few years... no problems here.

Most people that say it's a bad choice have either never used it and/or are just perpetuating what they've read/heard elsewhere.

I use it as one of my HD weapons... it's relatively lights and short, holds ample amount of ammo and shoots great.

Like hash brown said - you need to be deliberate when cycling... a few first-timers that have shot mine had some trouble... but as long as you don't half-azz it, the gun is good to go.

Congrats on the new gun. It's on my purchase list for next year. My buddy has one and really likes it.
