Range with patterning board?

What's up guys. I use to pattern my shotguns at Los altos but last time I was there, they took down the board. I used my Cabelas club points for a new choke tube and my bass pro points for a box of "Hevi-Steel". I guess it's hevi shots take on all steel load. And I can't find a range with a board at 40 yards. Only one I can think of is Richmond but it's only 25 yards

Chabot does, but it's at a short distance and since they moved it to the trap field side they charge a trap ticket ($9) for 5 shots to "keep the guys away who just want to blast with bird shot out of a saiga all day".

Metcalf had one(don't know if they still do) on the far end of the skeet fields. Could call and ask about it.

Sunnyvale should have one, but I haven't spent enough time at the trap fields to know if or where it is. I'd give 'em a call.

Either of those places would be better than driving all the way out to richmond if you're closer to los altos.

What is the shot size of your hevi-shot? Both Coyote Valley and Sunnyvale Rod & Gun have patterning board but they restrict the max shot size you can use. Number 7.5 at Coyote Valley and I think Sunnyvale is the same (check with them before going). If you hevi-shot are ok to use, here are the locations of their patterning boards:

The patterning board at Coyote Valley Sporting Clays (Morgan Hill) is free to use, and there is no entrance fee, but you do need to sign in. The patterning board is located right next to the trap field. If you want to shoot trap, remember to get some tokens at the front desk.

There is also one at Sunnyvale Rod 7 Gun club, it is located next to the trap field number 5, you might see some folks using that field to shoot 5-stand too. It is the first trap field you see when you drive up from the road to the parking area.

Grease board or patterning board? Last I knew Coyote's pattern board (butcher paper) was by the first Sporting Clays stn. There's a grease board elsewhere (trap field?).

There's a grease board at Metcalf at the far end of field #1.

The patterning board at Los Altos has been moved to the manual trap side of the e-trap range. Shot size is restricted to 4 through 9.

I'm a member of Sunnyvale R&G and yes, we have a pattern board at the end of the five stand. Restricted to bird/trap shot.

I was at Sportsfield Park (Metcalf) yesterday on the rifle range. They had a board on the left that was pretty shot up, but it seems like you could move it back to 40 if you want. The problem then being that you have to wait for cease fire periods to go retrieve. The guy behind the counter at Mel Cotton's suggested I go here when I asked about patterning duck loads.

I'm thinking about going there next week to pattern some different loads & chokes.

I don't think you can get back to 40 yrds at Los Altos without shooting from the middle of the driveway.

Steel patterning board (grease board) can cause non-lead shot to ricochet so be careful when patterning. My buddies truck found out the hard way when he was patterning duck loads at the metal board.
