    mossberg 590a1 ghost ring frontsight

This may sound strange, but I HATE the ghost ring sights on my 590a1. So I'm looking to change them.

Can anyone give insight into what is involved with removing the front sight?

if you remove the ramp/front sight you will have to refinish the barrel.
I would just go and buy a new bead barrel or trade for your rear sight and ramp sight barrel.

I have a 590A1 also. It's the rear sight that sucks, very hard to adjust. Is there a replacement rear sight that would work with the existing front?

Get a bead sight. And remove every other sight installed. I'm not a gun smith so not sure what's involved. Drilling/tapping hole maybe?

I think the ghost ring or actual taller sights look better, but just a plain bead up front is quicker and easier to use.

My 590a1 us service model came with nothing in the rear and a tiny bead up front I like it so much better then my 930 spx that uses the ghost rings. Anoyying to aim with. But that's just my .2 cents

I think the best way to go about this is to do a trade with some one who wants the ghost ring sights. That way everyone gets what they want.

I bought the basic 590A1 with heavy 18" bead sight barrel the GI's and Marines carried in Iraq and Afghanistan and am very pleased.
