Looks like a higher grade Athena d'Italia in a trap configuration.

I have been looking around and I think maybe a regency? That's the closest thing I have found

The Regency was the original Weatherby and made in Italy (Zoli) A short while later Japan took over production. Then around 2007 back to Italy (Fausti).

here's a review of the more recent Italian version.

Weatherby Shotguns have been some of the finest shotguns available on the U.S. market for over five decades.

If it has screw-in chokes, it's most assuredly a more recent gun. I'm not up on regency and if it has fixed chokes it may be the older regency if the regency had false side plates like that one.

Do you have an idea as to age of shotgun?

Edit: It sure does look like some grade of regency.

My family friend said he purchased it used 8 years ago so I am guessing it's a older Italian model

What does a shotgun like this sell for?

Seems all the older ones were all pretty well embellished with engraving. The monte carlo stock and raised rib spells trap model to me.

Ha! Look what I found in the engraving!

So it is a regency, what's a fair price on one?

Check sites like gunbroker and gunsamerica for SOLD examples. Rough guess $1200. Like everything else, condition speaks. The market depresses the price of fixed choked guns unless they are application specific (like trap, skeet). The proliferation of non-tox requirements isn't helping.
