    iac hawk 982?

Which would you rather have? Opinions of People who have Experience with the Hawks are appreciated!

I can't find anything negative about it on the internet, never shot one in person. I guess they have the bush button safety, metal trigger guard, a few diff sighting options, and are on sale for like 165 these days.

I guess they have a few different sighting options... ghost ring on a 18.5 inch bbl pump shotgun doesn't make all that much sense to me, but there is a pic rail version too.. i could maybe see putting a holo sight on one.

The first firearm I ever purchased was a IAC Hawk 98 with ghost ring sights. I still have it. SOOOOO many weekends that gun would bounce around in the back of my jeep, get dropped, never get cleaned, fall into water and never get cleaned, and I have never had any malfunctions with it. It's beat up and the finish is really starting to wear off, but it still functions perfect. For the price, it's not bad at all in MY opinion.

IAC hawk is a great value. I have mine since 2010 and it has run everything I put through it. It takes most 870 accessories and just durable as.heck. It is heavy and that's the only negative I have.to say about it. It is my HD shotgun.

I've got one, and I must say that I have been impressed with the gun since the first shooting session. Not one burble, and no BS "break-in" required.

Maybe I'm not so bright but I replaced the OEM stock with a Magpul SGA stock (Rem 870 version, fit without any mods, half again the price of the entire gun!!!). But with the adjustable LOP of the SGA stock, that little 982 fits me perfectly, and just rocks.

Some of the other low-end shotguns I looked at (Maverick 88) didn't have very smooth actions IMHO (n=1, though), and others (Rock Island) seemed to have smooth actions but were quite heavy.

Now if the Hawk had the safety at the correct end of the triggerguard, it might be near perfect. But if you are used to 870's, you will be just fine with it.

And re. the ghost ring sights - When all is said and done, me likey. Maybe not as fast as a bead site in close quarters HD work, but not bad either.

            Thanks for the replies everyone.

Is it more heavy than the 870?

Yes, but balances really well. I think quality of the stock can't be beat by any other low-end shotty
