    Mossy 500 Safety Move

Got a Maverick trigger group with the safety in front of the trigger to make it easier with the pistol grip I have installed. I am looking to remove and block off the thumb safety.

I'm wondering if anyone has deleted the safety before? Cant keep it open, since it leaves a big hole up top. I'm sure I could make something, but wondering if there's a pre-made something to use.

Removing the safety on a shotgun is not a smart move.

The thumb safety button is useless at this point. The new trigger group relies on a different mechanism that doesn't even engage the old button.

OP, I'd be surprised if such a thing existed, as it would be useful to only a very small number of shooters. Please update if you find out otherwise, as I'm interested in the same modification on a 590A1.

Also, how do you like it?

I misread the OP's statement. I thought he had a Maverick SG and was planning on running the gun w/o any safety at all. My bad.

definitely will let you know what I can do. Haven't put it together yet since I figure I'd just take care of this while it's apart. Was thinkin that someone may have just used a "non mossberg/gun" piece to fill the gap.

If anything I was thinkin of jus gettin a small block and maybe engraving it or something kooky like that.

My idea had been to bolt an epoxy plug into place (lots of release agent on the receiver and bolt), sand it into shape once it cures and paint it to match.

ETA: I knew I was forgetting to ask a question ... where did you get the trigger group, and how much was it? I've been watching Numrich, but they've been out of stock for a while.

I don't think anything like that is being sold. As not many people would need to remove the safety.

Nope, new 870's do not have the quality of older Remingtons.
