    Red dot for autoloader?

Got a Mossberg 930 SPX several months back and am contemplating a red dot sight for it.. I have a Sparc Vortex II in a box here that I was going to drop on an AR, but am thinking it might be better to install it on the Mossberg and leave the ACOG on the AR.

Thoughts? Suggestions for other sights for the Mossy?

I think they are good ideas if they are parallax free.

Yep on both accounts... The Vortex website says the Sparc II is good for shotguns, but looking for real-world experience...

Definitely wouldn't put something like an Osprey on it.. Have one on a .22LR that works good, but that same budget unit on an AR popped out of zero quite frequently just from recoil. No way it'd stay put on top of a shotgun.

I put the sparc 1 on my spx and have about 100 shells through it so far. It mounts up well on the forward most piece of rail. While I can still use the stock sights I'm up in the air about whether it's an improvement or not. The stock ghost ring set up is so easy to use that I find myself preferring it and focusing on that instead at the range. For a HD weapon I'm guessing the dot would be preferred with low light situations.

I've got a Burris Fastfire III on my Winnie Defender 1300 tac. So far no issues, and it works great. However I'm looking at getting a new Beretta 1300 Tactical, and I'll be putting an RMR on it.

The ghost ring does work well, just looking for another possible solution. (A solution for a non-existent problem?)

If I don't like the optics, I'm sure I can find another home for it.

Yep, this is how I feel, except I have pulled off the Red Dot after just a short time. It was a Burris FF3 and it works okay, Not my best red dot, and I find the flat reflex sights to generally have more glare and overall lack of clarity vs. tube setups.

But back on point, my ghost ring setup is super fast to pick up, it is a 3 dot tritium setum (Scattergun Tech/Trijicon) so night use is not a problem any more than a red dot - I feel it is better at night as you don't have to look through a tinted lens at your target. And don't forget, irons will not fail.
I just didn't feel there was any real advantage to the red dot and there was weight (not much really) and increased rate of failure vs. infallible iron sights.

these are the sights in dim light.
They are easily seen in all light conditions, and the rifle pulls right up into the sight picture when shouldered. No searching required.

              Was this

it was pretty functional - but it was kind of hard to look at.
but you can see the higher sight plane of the RDS vs. the irons.
that means 2 comb heights - otherwise, it is either scrunch or hover. I will take one correct weld, thank you. If you could co-witness that would change things, but as things are ...

              Now it is this.

              Simple is better IMO.

First 3 slugs after installing the ghost rings. 25yd
