Beretta A400 Xcel vs Remington 1100 Competition

So I just helped the girlfriend pay off her $700 educational workshop, so now I am back in the green and looking for a new shotgun (this one will be for trap).

Has anyone shot BOTH of these guns?

I shot the Beretta A400 Xcel at the turner's sportsman fair and I loved it.

Haven't gotten the chance to try the 1100 competition with the special stock though.

    For your reference:

Technological precision with human passion.Your competitors will tremble in fear after catching a glimpse of the tell-tale blue receiver as you step to the line with

The Model 1100 Competition synthetic 12-gauge shotgun has a 30" overbored barrel which is optimized for 2.75" target loads and light field loads. A nickel Teflo

Which one swings/balances better? Which one is softer on the shoulders?

Let me know about your experiences.

    Thanks!

      I have both plus a Fabarm xlr5.

      1. A400 xcel Parallel Target-Ugly but fast and fail proof

      2. Fabarm XLR5 LR model-would be the best but I had to do some grip mods plus the rib is starting to rust

      3. 1100-last only because I have an almost new 1100 comp that is sitting broken in the safe from a broken action bar lug.

A nice A391 will do great too

Haha, thanks for the feedback. I will keep that in mind for the next 6 months.

You should try asking at trapshooters.com, there are not many clay shooters on calguns.net and even less regular trap shooters.

If you live the SF Bay Area (or close by), you can rent a Fabarms at Coyote Valley sporting clay to try it out. I met a older gentleman on the trap field one time who rented it and he let me try it, I didn't like it at all. It is a massive, hulking piece of shotgun. I'm used to the slender and quick handling characteristics of a Benelli. So if you're considering it, be very sure you try it as it is rather different from most field/hunting style shotguns.

            ><

At the 1600 price point.....there are a lot of choices. Since you tried and loved the Beretta 400....heck your way ahead of the process of "try before you buy". Get to the range , rent, borrow ....shoot Trap with as many as you can. Then select the one that feels good and busts the clays.

What is a well balanced , comfortable, good swinging shotgun is for one person may seem totaly different for another.

I would prefer a shotgun that dusts clays when I'm shooting it over any recommendation.

Good luck in your quest and get out there and dust lots of clays
