I would put more consideration into the smoothness of the chamber.Something to consider: http://www.rem870.com/2013/01/06/rem...-modification/
True wealth is time. Time to enjoy life.
Life's journey is not to arrive safely in a well preserved body, but rather to slide in sideways, totally worn out, shouting "holy schit...what a ride"!!

Makes no sense to me and I have been around this weapon for 45+ years and working on them for 34 years. There is nothing wrong with the extractor that comes in the Remington Shotgun and no need to Bubba it up like in that video. Guess some people just like to mess with stuff. A good rule to follow is this. If it ain't broke, don't fix it".JD McGuire, Owner

If you're going to a gun fight, take a shotgun. If you can't take a shotgun, don't go.Comment

I can see where someone would think this makes sense. I am just not sure it is correcting a problem. He states it makes it more reliable. I wonder if that is an educated guess or whether it really does improve reliability. It just has never been a problem on my 870s.Comment

It seems like an intuitive/anecdotal thing. The question I would have is - Does it hurt anything to try it?Comment

Not if you are willing to buy or have on hand a second, replacement extractor to replace the one you "modify" if it causes extraction to be less reliable. Once again, I'd say it's up to the owner of the gun. It's just an extractor, not the crown jewels.
That being said, I've never seen an issue with extraction on any of the 870s I've had(or the Chinese knock offs for that matter). Anecdotal, yes, but for me I wouldn't bother with it in general.Comment

Seems like a polished chamber would do more for the 870. This just seems excessive and a quick way to lower resale value.best troll thread in calguns history
