Browning A5

Hi,

I have a Browning a5 12g with serial number 5m17xxx. I'm trying to find out when the gun was manufactured and getting confused with Browning's website. Can anyone help me out. This gun will be up for sale once i have the info.

Is the "5" clearly a 5 and not an 8? The M I believe means standard weight, but that's all I get figure out!

It's 100% a 5. Yea that m is standard weight but the number 17 xx doesn't match up when the "m" was introduced

Looks like a 1965.

Don't look at the 17XXX, that is the serial number not the date code.

5m17xxx is the type of serial number Browning used from 1958 to 1968.

5 is the year code and as you know M is the standard weight.
