    What was your first shotgun?

I have not seen a thread pertaining to this on CalGuns, so here goes:

Mine was a Springfield Arms, Chicopee Falls, Mass (later bought out by Savage, I believe) single-shot break-open 20 gauge when I was 12 (1964). The first year I was allowed to go pheasant hunting with my dad and his cronies I was given 2 empty shells with a primer only in each. My main job was to wade into the cedar swamps and flush out any birds there. I heard them flush but the brush was to thick to see them. It was then declared that I was better than Judy (the old black Lab) and she would be retired after that season.

After the day's hunt I was allowed to shoot a live round at a 5-gallon can at about 7-8 yards. I was amazed to see such a tight pattern (raghole) in the side of the can.

I later graduated to a Rem 870 IC choke and my dad put the 20 to use as a single-shot .357 Max using a Numrich barrel for whitetails.

My dad bought a Stevens 311 20g for me to use as my first duck gun. I'm sure he sold it after the whole lead shot ban took affect. When I went away to college, he gave me an Mossberg 500 that was probably a 60's or early 70's vintage.

My very first gun purchase was my 870. I have done some upgrades and its awesome. I had shot these shotguns when I was in the CHP academy and loved them from that day.
