If they are in my home especially armed, isnt that consider ed immediate threat? If I defend my home thats home offense, and hiding in a closet waiting is hlme defense??
You should just let them ransack your stuff unless, you think your stuff is worth more than your life. You are now changing your tune and saying that if someone breaks in, you will feel threatened. That can be, and usually is enough just cause to use deadly force but, just protecting personal property like you first stated isn't. Every situation is different and we can play the "what if" game all day long and never cover every situation or how each decision one makes might be viewed by different jurys. However, your other posts seam to imply that you want to use your firearm to go on the offensive. That's not a great idea from a legal stand point. If I have been misreading you posts, I apologize.

Negative. Sorry hard to type a lot on crappy loaner phone. Even if.legal I wouldnt waste somebody over an object.

I was trying to say im supposed to jusy let them wander about my house until they.eventually got to me or another humans life instead of confronting.them early. Not chatge.ddown the hall shooting from the hip. ( I wouldn't shoot that way unless I.had.no way to aim, )

Like I said, every situation is going to be different.

As far as shooting from the hip or aiming goes: if you're planning on aiming a shotgun (the safest way to stop a threat 99.99% of the time), why would you want a folding stock and two other extra potential places for a gun to get snagged? Loosing the folder and both PGs will be better most of the time. But, in the end you gotta do what you feel most comfortable with.

OP, despite the derision of some about the look of the shotgun you have, it will work JUST FINE for home defense. Leave it the way it is (minus the sling) and simply buy a dedicated hunting shotgun.

I do agree that moving around your house could be a bad idea but like others have said, "circumstances will vary" so what is appropriate in one instance might not be in another.

Keep the shotgun you have, and buy something like this! I had this shotgun and I loved it, I only sold it because I had 6 shotguns that were all for hunting. The black synthetic combo is a fixed modified choke barrel, whereas this combo comes with a 28" barrel that's ported AND has three chokes!

A tactical reason for not using a pistol grip on a Mossberg 500 is the position of the safety. With the pistol grip, you have to remove your hand from the grip to disengage the safety and then get on the grip again to shoot. With a regular stock, you can just use your thumb to disengage the safety without having to move your hand away from the grip.
