    Mossberg 500A Ejection Issue

    Hello,

I have an older model Mossberg 500A that I had purchased used, it is well kept, cleaned and I even took some steel wool and a dremel and polished the chamber.

I purchased some Winchester Superspeed xtra game & target loads from Wally World and would get shells that would get stuck/jam in the chamber and wouldn't extract, I would have to pry it out using my flat head screw driver. It happened about 7 times out a box of 20.

Has anyone experienced this issue? Is it the ammo or my gun? Anyone recommend any good 00 Buck shot that is reliable?

    Thanks!

Haven't heard this. I have a Mossberg 500A from probably 1994 that just shoots whatever I give it.

when feeding my 500 the cheap winchester bulk pack ammo (from Wally World), i have to rack the slide REALLY hard to get it to eject the shells. never happens with any other ammo excep the Win bulk packs from Wally World.
i'm sure other 500 owners will chime in about it since its a common issue with that Win bulk ammo.
now i've never had to pry the shell out with a screwdriver...thats new. but i would assume that if those shells are known for causing issues with ejection, your problem is more than likely due to the ammo.
If you suck with irons you will suck with optics. The difference is the aimpoint will allow you to suck faster and a scope will give you a closer look at how much you suck.

I have a 500 from the 90s and had 3 failures to eject out of about 100 rounds during a training class. The first 2 were easily removed by hand and I attributed them to not racking hard enough.

The last one however could not be removed by hand. I tried and the instructor tried and finally had to use a tool to pry it out. The brass side was in the slot area outside of the chamber and the rest of the shell was hanging out at 90 degree. I thought it might be an out of spec shell but after hearing about your experience, I'm wondering.
