I beat the current CA State Champion ... (with pictures)

on 2 stations, unfortunately he killed me on the other 13

Yesterday was Mike Raahauge's (Corona, CA) monthly fun shoot, and I gotta tell you the targets were stiff.

Current and multi time California State Champion Tom John came in with a 92, perennial front runner Brad Sutton was RU one bird back.

Me, I couldn't find my *** with both hands, but I did manage to best both of them on two stations

We'll at least I know what to go back and reshoot this week.

Congrats! Must have been a good feeling whether or not it was just a fun-shoot. Never tried Sporting Clays but I'd like to one of these days. Oddly enough my Citori is a sporting clays/skeet gun but I shoot trap almost exclusively. And yesterday at Triple B's was the first time I even shot the top barrel on it (round of skeet). Also got my first doubles in skeet that round! I am in the market for a Beretta 682 Super Trap, though.

Do it, it's a blast. But keep in mind it's not like trap or skeet where people break 100 straight just to get in the shoot-offs.

Hah hah.....despite misleading thread title, congratulations.

I got to start trying sporting clays, the irony is that I go to Coyote Valley Sporting Clays every weekend, both Sat and Sun, to shoot trap with my wife.

I went back and reshot stations 4, 6, 11, 13, and 15 yesterday. They were tough stations (even for the big guys shown above).

It took me a while to find the targets on them, but it was worth going back. I was with a few friends, and looking hard at the birds, forming a plan, and watching other people shoot them really helped out.

Do you guys go back and reshoot stations that gave you trouble in a tournament?
