If its 27" you should be GTG man. I had a Mossberg 500AB that was a squeaker once the barrel was just 1mm under 18" when installed but if you measured it off the gun or from the breach where the barrel started it was totally legal it was just over 26" with the PB installed.

First of all, it is not a "shotgun" by definition. It is a 12g long gun. I believe a "shotgun" needs to have or have had a stock on it to be legally considered a "shotgun".

A waste of a perfectly good shotgun action? Yes

Go shoot a PG only gun like this and you'll understand that there is very little real world use for one.

^^^^How is this possible? Did you or a prior owner cut down the barrel? Mossberg produces them to be 18.5 inches, they can't possibly be off by a half inch + 1mm. If there were, they were subjecting their customer to a felony charge. "Just 1mm under 18" is good for hard time in federal prison.

Are you sure you were measuring it correctly? Barrel mounted on receiver, measured with a dowel down the barrel, distance from muzzle to closed bolt.

If Mossberg sold me an illegal barrel as you describe, I would go ballistic.

The barrel measures the same on or off the action. I think you just don't know how to legally measure barrel length.

It's main purpose is for protection. When this perp come knocking on your place of business, you'll wish you have one under the counter. It's a good thing that customers need to get buzzed in first before they could get inside our shop.

Get a clue. For SD, you want a stock so you can shoulder and aim it properly. sure, I've played with PG only 12gs but, I would not ever pick one to trust my life with. Then again, I've got real experience with them and I'm not a mall ninja. In fact, since they can't really be aimed, I will take it a step further and say that using one in a SD situation would be negligent since it can't be aimed properly. Don't give me that "a shotgun doesn't have to be aimed" BS unless you really want to prove your ignorance on the subject.
