    A Shotgun Question

    Hello Everybody:

I am thinking about buying my first semi-auto shotgun. And What I have

    in hand is :

Beretta 12 Gauge A391 Extrema 2 Semi Auto.

28" CAMO Advantage Max 4 HD

    3.5" Magnum with Choke compensator.

    Gas Blow-back.

The shotgun is in a real good shape.

The Seller is a good friend of mine and is hurting for money, therefore

I am not negotiating the price.

    ASKING PRICE : 850 BUCKS.

I have 3 days " think about it " period before we go ahead and do the

    PPT.

    Is it worth the money?

Any feedback regarding the shotgun itself ?

    Please and thank you.

Beretta makes a great shotgun! I'm fairly certain that is the model my father in law has. He has the kick off butt pad (think that is the name). He paid $1,300 or $1,400 for it about 8 years ago? He has never had a problem with it and he does not take care of it. It is soft shooting and reliable. Most bird hunting outfits use Berettas or Benellis. I would google the model you listed and see how much they are going for.

Good morning Natewa and thank you for your response.

Yes it has kick off butt pad. And it was purchased 6 years ago.

Yes I looked it up and found different prices, but I ask based on

the experience of that shotgun and if the price is sweet or sour

after years of usage, not only the price tag itself.

      Thank you for the feedback.

I have the same shotgun. Good buy for $850. I've never had an issue with my beretta 391. There are a lot of folks that prefer the 391 over the a400 so if you ever decide to get rid of it you will have plenty of buyers.

Love Beretta autos. I have an older 391 and have countless rounds through it without a malfunction. Not a bad price at all for that gun.

I shoot trap with 391s and love them. If it's in good shape, I'd think that was a decent deal. I assume this one is used for duck hunting?

He bought it only for trap shooting and definitely did not use it for hunting.

If it's a camo stock, I'd assume it's a field configuration. That will have a slightly lighter (and possibly shorter) barrel and a stock that drops at the back, rather than the parallel comb that most trap shooters prefer. Scrolling up, I see that it is a shorter barrel. Mine are trap guns with 30-inch barrels.

That said, if that works for you, it's still a decent buy. Not a screaming deal, but ok. Have you shot it? How does it work for you? How much use did your friend give it? What are you intending to do with it? Should be fine for a lifetime of trap games, but it might not hold up for 100,000 shells without rebuilding, but almost everything on that gun can be replaced.

                      Edited to add:

I just noticed where you're from. If you pick it up, come out to Waterford on Friday nights. If you come early, the practice traps are open, and the games start just before dark. It's a lot of fun (but I won't be there for a couple of weeks.) You'll be far from the only camo gun there too, there are a lot of them.
