How to spruce up my budget Maverick 12ga?

So, I broke down and bought a budget Maverick 12ga instead of a Mossberg. Yes, same maker but different shotguns. Does anyone have a Maverick that they've spruced up a bit? Are parts for them interchangeable between Maverick and Mossbery 500? I thought about a shell carrier but most catalogs say "Mossberg" not Maverick. Thanks

most mossberg 500 parts will work with it. i recommend getting a slide tube, nut, and new forend to install now or some point later. the mav. 88 is all one piece so no options without replacing it. shell carrier and maybe different stock if you want to shorten/lengthen it to fit you better.

Check out this video explaining the difference between the Maverick and Mossberg 500 and 590.

After upgrading, would you really have saved that much more over buying a 500? I think the Mavericks are great for the money but if you're going to upgrade it I'd imagine you'd be better off with getting a 500 in the first place. I'm a firm believer in buy once - cry once.

Limbsaver recoil pad If you plan to shoot it a lot. A five shot shell holder and a clamp on tube led light All for under 60

I have a Maverick shotty and I replaced the factory stock with one of those blackhawk breacher pistol grip and tacstar 6 shells side saddle.

The side saddle carrier is a must for most competition involving pepper poppers . Most guys also add one for home defense guns too.
I have one on each shotgun I use for competitive events .

Mesa tactical is the nicer one, but the less expensive plastic / nylon types work just as well for half the cost .

I would suggest you stay away from pistol grip fore-end grips, I had one and it was slower than the conventional " ringtail" or similar.

Not to be critical but using words such as " gauge" or " shotty" are terms never used by gun culture advocates .

I'm not familiar with either mossberg or maverick SGs . But I've always thought Mossbergs were underrated . Sort of like Marlins are underrated lever guns .

Get a side saddle, get a good light ( Surefire or magul forend + WML) and get a shorter LOP stock if you have a small figure like me
                    oh and lots of ammo

Don't waste your money. Save up for a better shotgun.
MB-500 was my first shotgun. Shot the crap out of it. Doesn't hold up like a Rem 870, to name one.

I installed a Tacstar barrel shroud and side saddle on my brothers Maverick 88, gave it a 'All Business' kinda look.

Spend the money for upgrades on ammo and classes. Yes classes.

In time, sell it and buy a 590a1 with the steel trigger assembly.
