    M4 H2O

Just jailed a Benelli M4 H2O today. I was very surprised at how handy, balanced, and small it felt, maneuvering it around and shouldering it, compared to my 590A1 which feels somewhat unwieldily.

They threw in a choke for shooting slugs in the deal. Anyway, I'm stoked!

Nice! What's that "choke for shooting slugs"? A more open choke perhaps?

I dunno, according to the dealer I bought it from, he said that the choke that comes installed from the factory is for buckshot, and if you are going to use more than a few slugs, there is a separate one for them. Or else you stand a chance of screwing up the other one if you start shooting a lot of slugs.

Please post some pictures when you get it. I love me some nickled(or hard chrome or whatever they call it) long guns.

And if you don't mind........what did you pay and where did you find it?

Good question... I was going to say a rifled choke but then again, I highly doubt the M4 has a rifled barrel... so...

What I have read is that it is a teflon impregnated nickel finish that adds lubricity to the metal.

Even the trigger group an bolt group, as well as the inside of the receiver, magazine and barrel is finished with it.

It was 2399 with a ten percent discount so 2159 before tax & dros. They only had one and told me that they ordered it 3 years ago.

Awesome. Thanks for sharing the info. "Teflon impregnated nickel finish" sounds like NP3 from Robar, which it may very well be, or it may Benelli's version of it.

Be sure and post those photos when you can. Thanks!

That's a sweet pickup. I was also thinking rifled choke tube for slugs, but maybe the choke it comes with is just too tight.
So I was driving home from the range and I noticed that the scent of warm steel, burnt gunpowder and lukewarm coffee combined and smelled oddly of... Peanut butter?! Man, the Hoppe's is going to my head.

Thanks for posting that. If I was smart I would have looked myself but apparently my google-fu is failing me as of late.

Kilrain, if you are interested in one of these, there are a few of them on gun broker.

I was actually gonna go that route when, while visiting relatives in the SF Bay Area, I called a LGS and they had one, so I jumped on it.

Oh I'm interested.........but my bank account, not so interested......

I have a Vang 870 Marine Magnum, a Mossberg 590 Mariner and a Winchester 1300 Stainless Police and would love to add that M4 to my collection. I'll just have to start saving or selling to get the funds.

I had never heard of that version

Rule 1- ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED

Rule 2 -NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT PREPARED TO DESTROY (including your hands and legs)

Rule 3 -KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET

Rule 4 -BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET AND WHAT IS BEYOND IT
                            (thanks to Jeff Cooper)

Sure is pretty. I just got a regular M4, little jealous. I have a "marinecote" Mossberg 590A1. I live near the ocean where wood rots very fast so might as well.

I wonder if in the case of the M4 the add'l finish makes a difference? I'm thinking the "Marines" would have tested the original finish for "Marine" duty, and wouldn't have accepted it if it didn't last in marine environments. But that extra coating probably means it will be crazy durable... like 314 years with 83 hurricanes thrown in, and the action will probably be smoother.
