What about the Remington Versa Max? I was in the same boat as you until I saw that the Vmax has essentially the same gas system as the M4 and it was way cheaper. I've heard a lot of parts are actually interchangeable between the two, but you don't have to deal with any of the 922r headaches with the Vmax.

Save up for Benelli M4 or buy VEPR 12?

Depending on the finish you select, I heard that some are in stock now. I just got a couple of DG Parkerized tubes and they are great.
One note on replacing the M4 magazine - be prepared for it to be either extremely easy, or very frustrating... One of mine screwed out with no drama (barely had to add any heat to it, and once it started turning, it kept going), and the other one took so much heat that the stock tube looked like a little chimney. And, I'd only get about a quarter to a half turn before the thread lock reactivated and had to start adding heat again. When that one finally came off, it looked like the factory gooped on as much red loc-tite as they could pack onto the threads. Not a fun exercise when the weather is hot and you are in the "don't give up" mode.Comment

Versamax DOES NOT have the same gas system as the Benelli M4, the VersaMax uses shell size to cover the number of gas ports to regulate gas, the Benelli M4 does not
both do have similar dual pistons under the barrel gas systems
I'm not sure on the parts interchangability, but i know early VMaxs had a lot of teething issues...

How about a Beretta 1301 Comp? there are quite a few three-gunners using the 1301 now
I have a Beretta A400 Xtreme (same system in a sporting/hunting gun) and its probably the softest and fastest shooting 12 gauge i have ever used....Comment

The VM incorporates many design elements copied very closely to the m4.
It even has the Benelli feature of riding on a free carrier.Comment

The 1301 comp shoots pretty much as fast as you want it to and shoulders very nicely. The recoil is also butter smooth. It does suffer the same problem as the benelli, namely that you'll have to buy some kind of extension tube as it comes stock with only a 5+1 capacity but there's plenty of tubes available for it. You can also get it in a couple of configurations. I have the 20" model and they make a more hunting oriented one with a 24" barrel iirc.Comment

Update on the CC tube, spring & follower....
I sent an inquiry and they said that it should be to me within 2 weeks...wahoo!
In preparation, I have already removed the stock tube from the receiver and cleaned the threads from any remaining AR....Originally posted by Lone_GunmanAmerican stormed the beaches of Normandy, not Europeans.
