    Shotgun safety double check

I think I'm fine, but would rather not blow myself up

    1970s wingmaster (2 3/4 shells only) with 18" express barrel (3" or 2 3/4" shells) shooting 2 3/4" buckshot shells

    Should be fine right? Thanks

As long as the gun is in proper working order, it is fine to use.

Lots of us have and shoot guns that are 100+ years old.
Rule 1- ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED

Rule 2 -NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT PREPARED TO DESTROY (including your hands and legs)

Rule 3 -KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET

Rule 4 -BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET AND WHAT IS BEYOND IT
      (thanks to Jeff Cooper)

Anything 2 3/4" should be fine, be it; bird shot, buck or slug. My Wingmaster is mid-seventy's model and I wouldn't worry about it with a short express barrel!

If anything it's built better than the ones made today. Not sure of the actual metallurgy involved as we've done a lot recently, but they were crafted a little more precisely back then.

Anti-I have old ones and new ones. Why do you say that they were made better back then?

Perhaps it's just an illusion, but the older ones just seem to have had more love put into them when being built. Not saying the new ones are no good; I owned a newer Police model not too long ago.
