    Shotgun in my truck window?

Can I legally carry my shotgun on a gun tack in my trucks back window?
I could store the ammo separately in a locked container.

im not sure if its legal or not but it would definitely attract a lot of attention. Probably not worth the hassle

Yes....if you want to loose it.

Yes, if you're within 1000 feet of a school (at any time) it has to be locked.

Will you're truck get broken into? Quite possibly.
Will you get pulled over for a 'seat belt check' or something? Quite possibly.
Is it going to be a hassle for you? Quite probably.

Why not put it in a locking gun case and slip it behind the seat?

This is one of those it really depends on where you are questions. In an urbanized area, it will attract attention, out in the more rural area's no one notices. I still see farmer's and ranchers with window racks with a rifle or shotgun mounted out in the valley. You get near or west of Stockton not so much, but you still can see some in rural area's there.

Or list it on your CCW and store it behind the seat.

In a rural area in another state it might be ok, but in California it's a dumb idea.

Thank the OC crowd for making this illegal in much of the state. Their irresponsible use of their rights ended up making the rest of us responsible gun owners loose our right to UOC.

Rights that are lost weren't rights to begin with but privileges. I know it's semantics but it just depresses me all the same. It's best to keep your firearms discreet.

I saw a guy with an AR 15 in the back window of his pick up near Garner Valley.

This. People will steal it and it'll be a lot of hassle for you to make a Police report.

I agree with everyone stating it's legality along with stupidity in this state.

As for the "ammo in a separate locked container" nonsense, stop. There is no law saying your ammo needs to be locked away from the firearm. Someone please correct me if I am wrong.

If you were dumb enough to want to do it, you could roll with your SPAS 12 laying on a bed of shells in the back seat of your car.

                          (Don't do it)
                          Regards,
                          Mike

EDIT: The SPAS 12 is probably considered a WMD and illegal here also.

While I want to agree with you, I see a problem because, using your logic means that no one in this country has any "rights" at all. No matter what "right" you want to name, it can and has been taken away from some US citizens at some point in time. The biggest group of US citizens who have historically had "rights" taken from them are criminals. So, using your definition, can you list any "rights" that US citizens have?
