Yea but I'm talking about a foster slug shaped like a pellet with a point not shaped like a spitser

        Do some reading: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shotgun_slug

Not only will you learn why foster slugs are shaped the way they are, but what other types actually exist.

I can only guess but I would think its because you would lose projectile weight by having that shape. The shell itself limits the length of the projectile so why shave it down to a point? Plus part of it needs to be the correct caliber so it will travel down the barrel correctly obviously, so thats going to result in a pretty odd shape.. Thats why sabots are used as the round can be a different shape and held by shells that are the proper bore size.
Plus more machining or a harder shape to cast results in more expense.

          So IMO:
          Loss of projectile mass
Odd shaped because of shell limitations
          Increased cost

What benefit do you think that it would have being pointed?

IMO the name of the game when it comes to slugs is mass.. I don't think on a soft target the shape is going to change much.

BTW there were non sabot "armor piercing" rounds somewhat like you are talking about ("pellet shaped") fired in Ukraine:

I was thinking it would be less drag and more penetration if it was shaped that way, I was thinking of maybe having a mould made to do it but then I thought if it's such a great idea then why don't I see them..? So it might not be that great of an idea lol

The wiki page I linked actually details in plain English why foster slugs are shaped the way they are, and how the stabilization works(it's drag stabilization, and requires the projectile to be front heavy, you also need an overall shape that works with it as well).

Seriously, read the wiki article I linked. There's plenty of info there to learn, examples of slug types, and plenty of new terminology for you to continue your research elsewhere.

In a tube feed gun- shotgun or lever action rifle, a pointed bullet can act like the firing pin on the next shells primer.

You could make a pointy bullet that would work in a side by side and could explode the tube on a pump gun.

Rule 2 -NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT PREPARED TO DESTROY (including your hands and legs)

Rule 3 -KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET

Rule 4 -BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET AND WHAT IS BEYOND IT

I doubt it, since they found some on the ground and pulled others out of people.

I have no idea how they actually function and if they actually meet the claim of being armour piercing.. But the center part appears to be a hardened penetrator of some sorts...

They were reportedly fired into crowds of protesters. So they probably not being utilized as they were intended but out of confusion (thinking they were less lethal), or desperation (lack of other lethal ammo) or just plain old malice.

google: "ukraine armor piercing shotgun slugs"

I've seen slugs that look sort of like those before. They used a low diameter penetrator to provide a higher pressure at the point of impact (versus a higher impact area) and then relied on the overall mass to push it through the hypothetical weakened plate, supposedly now complete with stress fractures.

Never saw them used, though. So who knows if the idea is valid.
So I was driving home from the range and I noticed that the scent of warm steel, burnt gunpowder and lukewarm coffee combined and smelled oddly of... Peanut butter?! Man, the Hoppe's is going to my head.

and they also have one like the Ukraine one pictured above called the Monolit 32S. i found the Hexolit 32S to be more interesting and picked up a bunch of them (haven't tried yet).
