Benelli opinions?

Hey! I was just wondering if you guys could tell me what's your opinion on a benelli montefeltro 12 gauge. Shotgun. I'm planning on purchasing one but I just wanted some last minute opinions. So if you could tell me your opinion that would be great! Thanks!

I think it's pretty much the same as an M2 minus small details such as stock and the size of the rib vents on the barrel. but if that's the majority of the difference, I'm sure it's a great gun. I have a 24" M2 and it shoots really soft. easy to take down and clean and basically have no complaints.

I don't have experience with a gas system. but don't have any complaints with the inertia system. my M2 has shot flawless so far. have probably ~1000 rounds through it so far. what's the intended purpose for the shotgun.

I have the Super Sport and it has been a great gun. I have never heard anything bad about a benelli. Some people may not like them or may want a softer gun (mine is inertia driven), but I have not heard of any real issues with function.

The only issue I have come up with is that the SS will not work with an extended magazine tube and it only holds 4+1 rounds of 12 gauge 2 3/4" shells. The gun was designed for clay shooting and I bought it for that, but now I also use it for 3 gun. It is not meant for 3 gun, but it runs flawlessly.

The suggested price of $11xx looks attractive on the gun you listed, OP. The super sport ran me $2118 out the door and it is still pricey. As long as the gun fits you and you like it, you should be GTG with a Benelli.

if its anything like the m2 you'll love it, i put a lot of rounds through my scatter gun and it hasnt failed me yet. Ive owned a few different shotguns and besides the browning a5 ill never own anything but a benelli!

Benellis are good guns, I test drove the supersport, montefeltro and ethos at the turner's sports fair.

However! I strongly recommend you try that blue beretta semiauto first! That's my first purchase after I help my brother put a down payment on his car.

I don't have much experience with that gun, but I've had a few M1 and M4 models. The gas system on the M4 is awesome. I've put a lot of rounds through it and it's been flawless and stays clean.

About the only things that I don't love about Benelli shotguns are the user-friendliness and ergonomics. The M4, for example, takes a lot of getting used to - you've got to do some magic incantations to get it to chamber and I can't imagine how the DoD chose that one. Nobody wants to read an operator manual before feeling comfortable with a gun.

On the ergonomics side, the charge handle is small - and when you get into a situation where you can't get the gun to chamber the way you think it should, you're going to end up with bruised fingers.

Probably has nothing to do with the guns you're asking about - but the title of the thread was about "Benelli opinions"

I bought a SuperNova and liked it SO much that I had to get a Benelli semi-auto.
So now, I have a Montefeltro and I am very happy with it.
Smooth lines, nice walnut, excellent balance, fits me well.
(On my first try at shooting clays, I got 17 of 25.)

But the collection was still incomplete!
I needed a HD semi-auto shotgun. (The Montefeltro is just too long for that.)
So an M4 with an Aimpoint red-dot sight was the most recent addition to my Benelli collection.

How do you like the M4? I really like mine (and my CarrierComp mag tubes and parts are on the way to make them even better), but I'm either stupid, or I need to put a lot more rounds though the gun to get used to the way it works. Once I got used to it for the most part, when buddies of mine shoot the thing, they always need a tutorial on how to chamber it.

I'm not sure what Benelli was thinking with the way these guns work, but there are definitely some things that aren't totally intuitive. That said, I would bet my life on the gun once I KNOW that it's properly chambered and on safety.

I like it a LOT!
Which is a very good thing since it paid what it cost.
Felt recoil is minimized with boomers like 3" slugs compared to the SuperNova.
The only problem I have with it is that the low-recoil Fiocchi slugs do not cycle reliably.

I'm not sure what the problem is that people are mentioning about chambering a round.
Maybe because the only other shotguns I have fired other than Benelli's are a double-barreled exhaust-pipe (10 gauge?)
about 40 years ago and a KSG more recently.
I just don't know any better?
