    Remington sportsman 58

I picked up a Remington sportsman 58 today, it is in good shape for it's age. I planned on doing some touch up on blueing and a little touch up on the wood. It has a nice big vented poly choke on it (not sure if I like that but it is different and that's what made me take notice of it). Anyway I was doing some reading on the sportsman and i read that if the adjustable gas regulator is set to high pressure and you fire a low pressure round it won't cycle the action. I was wondering if anyone has one and has any input on this? I also read that if u have it set to low pressure and fire a high pressure round it will blow the cap off. The reason I am asking is all my shotguns go for at least one round of trap. This being a semi auto, if I can set regulator to high pressure and use low pressure rounds may be a way to keep from ejecting shells on the shooter to my right. I have had a few cats not like the eject on my 1100, so I am running a redneck shell catcher. Any info is appreciated and thanks in advance.

I have an SPT 58. I have only ever shot low base shells in it. I think you would be fine shooting low base shells with the regulator set on H. I say give it a try.
No government deprives its citizens of rights without asserting that its actions are "reasonable" and "necessary" for high-sounding reasons such as "public safety."
A right that can be regulated is no right at all, only a temporary privilege dependent upon the good will of the very government
officials that such right is designed to constrain.
