Buttstock Bearing Plate: Which side?!

Installing a walnut police buttstock to my Remington 870.
My question is what side of the bearing plate makes contact with the receiver?
Flat side or rounded side?

I could be wrong, but I usually use the flat-side facing the receiver.

And it is not unusual that if the plate needs a little tender-loving-filing to make it sit perfectly solid to the receiver. I have had plates that didn't sit solidly (before filing), and the stock wobbled a tiny-little-bit.
