Vang Comp barrel for Benelli M1?

I'm looking for more information on Vang Comp's barrels for Benellis. I recently purchased an M1 w/ a Vang Comp barrel installed. It's the first time I've ever seen one. Nothing special about the barrel, no ports, etc. Just a different front sight. The previous owner stated it produces tighter groups.

Not knowing much about the barrel, I swapped it back to a factory 18.5" M1. Was thinking about trying to sell the Vang barrel but haven't had any luck finding references over the internet to this specific model/pricing.

I'm aware that they make quality/proven products...but can you give a bit more info on why it would be such a better choice over the factory barrel? I was just planning to unload it for $200 or so. Couldn't find a site that sells it to reference an asking price.

Here are the pics, I've noticed it does not say Vang Comp anywhere on the barrel. Just a label stamped "12ga 2-3/4 & 3" chamber"

Vang Comp outsources their Benelli work to GG&G, they do not actually work on Benellis themselves.

Factory Benelli barrels are too thin to accommodate the Vang Comp system since most of the work involves removing material from the inside: Backboring, lengthening the forcing cone and cutting ports. GG&G takes the factory Benelli barrel and saw cuts the rear barrel extension off, then welds it on to a custom made tube.

The price for this is $700 plus your factory barrel, I believe.

It's a nice barrel, but the custom tube used is much heavier than factory and, at least on the one I had, it caused the gun to be less reliable with lower-powered loads. The stock Benelli is already somewhat unreliable with lesser Dram loads, but the Vang Comp barrel required heavier loads to cycle than before. This isn't a flaw per se since the Vang Comp system is really a tactical upgrade designed for buckshot and slugs, not game loads.

Good info, thanks. I'm not sure on the $700 figure for the Vang barrel though. I did pay a bit more for this M1 w/ the Vang installed, but it was still in a reasonable modified M1 range. Would u have any references to that pricing...an online link maybe?

It's very possible, even likely , that Vang Comp/GG&G no longer do this work. It was very expensive labor intensive and limited the use of the converted Benelli to tactical loads. It was never a very popular option.
