Newbie to Shotguns

Hi I'm looking for a skeet gun, preferably an over under shotgun, just cuz. what do you guys recommend, my budget is not too high. a beginner gun that I can use for a while and not get bored too quickly, and if I do will sell quickly. I know I might be asking a bit much but hoping you guys must know much more than me, so please educate me.

I just purchased a new model Ruger Red Label o/u for 1200.00 +/- out the door
I think CZ's are cheaper but I think your looking at 700.00 to 1500.00 for a decent o/u ...... I could have gotten a semi-auto or pump for much less but I wanted a o/u so Im good with it.

yea the over unders are pricey, but thats what they are all about, they still make them as a statement piece and to all those old school fowl hunters and game shooters trap ect..

i bet there is a rossi over under for cheap or something like that.

OP,
For Skeet, I would go with a 28" barrels. You say your budget is "not too high" that really doesn't tell us much. Given that, here a few options...
In the $500 range, Baikal has some 28" models that will work. Russian built guns that will last.
In the $750 range, CZ has some 28" models that will work. Better looking and balanced than the Baikal's.
In the $1000 range, start looking at used. Miroku, SKB, Browning...etc.
In the $1500+ range, too many to mention...

What is your budget? and How many rounds a year do you plan on shooting?

What I bolded is more important that what you want to get. Any of the low end o/u will drop in value and soon as you walk out the door with it. Based on what you wrote I would recommend a used semi-auto shotgun that has name recognition and thousands of them were produced.

A used Remington 1100 is the first thing that comes to mind. Here is my reasoning for the recommendation.

1. $400 range to purchase, if you get bored. Guess how much you can sell it for? $400. No depreciation on the value.

2. It will be easy to sell, I can't say that much about a o/u, especially the "entry level" ones.

3. Tons of option to customize how you want it, if that's what you fancy.

Extractors if you want to pluck out the empties for reloading.
Ejectors if you don't care.
Don't worry about parts wearing out or breaking until you've run a few thousand rounds through the gun.

OP. Stay away from the Stoeger Condor. Benelli has had so many problems/return issue with these guns that they have decided to discontinue the line. If your budget I under a $1000, take a look at CZ over/unders. If you are in SoCal, Bass Pro in Rancho Cucamomga has he CZ Canvasback for $999 and the CZ Mallard for $599. Also, stay away from the Mossberg Silver Reserve II guns as well. They are crap.
