    Old wingmaster + new barrel = ?

I have a 71 wingmaster in jail and a newer 870 express already. Wingmaster is 2 3/4 only. I want to put the 18" 2 3/4 and 3 in barrel from the 870 express on for hd. I know I can't shoot 3" shells through wingmaster, but the 2 3/4 shells will go fine through the newer either or barrel right....

Mossburg makes good barrels for the 870 and can be found on sale (under 100.00) frequently. Even Remington has 18.5" barrels on sale on their site from time to time.

from what i understand, the only reason that you can't shoot 3" shells through a 2 3/4" receiver is because of the ejector being too short. this is only hearsay though. it might have been AIP that said it though.

if interested, you can pick up a time-period barrel for your Wingmaster from the online auction circuit. if you should find one from an online auction that interests you, i suggest that you read the seller's feedback ratings from past buyers prior to your bidding. i would also suggest that you read and fully understand seller's return policy prior to bidding.

This is correct. People have replaced (re riveted) a 3" ejector in place of the original 2 3/4" one.

Problem is to be perfect you need to refinish/re- blue the receiver after in most cases.
