Patterned my 18.5" 870 today w/ Fed Flitecontrol

Took out my trusty 870 that serves as my HD gun. (18.5 inch barrel with Improved Cylinder choke)

Ammo used was Federal LE Flitecontrol 9 pellet - 00 Buck reduced recoil 1145fps. (LE132 00)

Distances were shot at 3, 7, 10, 15, 20, and 25 yards. I was pretty impressed by the tight patterns, especially the pattern at 15 yards. Just goes to show that you can achieve very good patterns without the use of "tactical" chokes. The Flitecontrol wad has thoroughly impressed me. Results are below.

    3 yards

    7 yards

    10 yards

    15 yards

    20 yards

    25 yards

Very cool! You can really see how it starts falling apart/spreading out @ 20yds. I'm going to need to pattern my HD gun now

Impressive stuff Isn't it? Take it out a little farther, it will still amaze you.

A differently designed plastic wad makes all of the difference and it does it with an IC choke. Federal hit a home run with this. Been using this ammo since it was first released.

Thanks for posting the pics, it really helps to see the spread at different distances.

I only tried at 10 yards and it's true, that LE13200 really is incredible compared to regular cheap 00. My pattern at 10yards was close to yours, but cheap Rio 00 was about the size of your 25 yard pic, maybe even larger.

Box O Truth had a good write up on pattering with Federal Flight Control.

I just came back from Los Altos Rod & Gun and shot these same ammo, Federal Flitecontrol 00 buckshots. I tried both the 9 and 8 pellets type on the tin can range there with good results. The pattern is tight enough that I can hit coke cans from 50 yards, I was using a Benelli Supersport with a Modified choke.

There is also a hunting version, VitalShok with FliteControl. This guy (who is also a member here) shot a deer with it at 55 yards, pretty impressive stuff for a 12 gauge 00 buckshot.

The Federal FCS gives you an extra 10 yards range on a B27 with 00 buck.
