    Mossberg sights

I am wanting to set up my Mossberg with a set up like the slug barrel (see link bellow) replacing the bead sight with a notch and post sight.

Does anyone know of a bolt on steel post/fin style front sight for a Mossberg 500 8 shot (the bead is the same as all other Mossbergs)? I have seen the night glow ones but am looking for an all metal sight.

I can get a rear notch sight and mount it to my picatinny rail but for the front sight I am wondering if there are any bolt on sights that can screw in using the bead sight screw hole. I have the 8 shot so I can't just change the barrel.

Alternatively to the rear picatinny sight, does anyone know of a rear sight that will bolt into the Mossbergs receiver?

(FYI, I am trying to not do any gunsmithing to the barrel, just bolt on stuff)

When I wanted rifle sights on my 500 8 shot, I just bought this:

    Mossberg 500 8 shot barrel

If you don't have a Brownell's account, create one and the price should be substantially less than $141.99....

Maybe a clamp-on front sight will work for you?

The dot on that clamp on sight looks much higher than where the original bead would be. Wouldn'[t you need a rear sight to go with it?

Yes, it appears that it supposed to be used in conjunction with the LPA rear ghost ring sight/LPA rear ghost ring sight and rail.

            Will this work on a Maverick 88 20" 8 shot ?

My best answer is I don't know. I suggest going here, Mossbergowners.com, creating an account and searching the forums or asking.

I don't own a Maverick 88 or I'd try it out for you.

I have been told by many sources the 88 (8 shot) and 500 (8 shot) barrel are interchangeable. I was looking for the 28inch Maverick 88 barrel for my Persuader (with no luck).

That 8 shot slug barrel is perfect but I think If I need to buy another barrel to accomplish that I will just buy another shotgun. Is the front sight on that barrel permanent or removable with a screw?

As for the ring, that would work well with a rear sight I had in mind since it would sit on my picatinny rail (the rail is atop the receiver). The only issue I foresee with that is since I already have a flashlight mounted in front of the forend it might make the gun look bulky. IMO once you add to many bolt on pieces the shot gun starts to look bulky and clunky (tacticallized I think is the word).

I actually found something that might work at midway. The complications are the bolt is the wrong size and I don't know if the curve on the bottom is right.

and they have these that might just do the trick, I just don't know if I will like the fiber optics

                and it might require gunsmithing.
