Little help - Eye = Rear Sight

Shooting 1oz slugs at 50 yard sight-in targets I had shotgun rested on a stand, got my cheek down on the stock and got a 6 O'clock hold on the bullseye.

All shots were off the paper!
Fiochi low-recoil were off-paper to the right
Federal true-ball were WAY off to the right

Now IIRC if I want to move my POI to the left, I need to move my rear sight to the left. In this case since my eye is the rear sight, I need to adjust my stock with a left cant, or a pad.

    Does this sound correct?

    Thanks!

    Are you shooting right-handed?

Is there a rear sight on the receiver or barrel or is the receiver bare as the rear sight is your eye?

Where do the slugs impact when you remove the shotgun from the stand and shoot it offhand?

          1) Yes right hand / right eye shooter
          2) Shotgun came with tapped receiver and a piece of 1913 rail I can put on, but right now has a rib and a high-vis front sight. I'm trying to keep it that way but I'm not really opposed to putting a red dot up there for slugs should I need to, but I would much prefer to keep it as is if I can
          3) I didn't try to shoot offhand, but its not like I had a sling and was cranking on the barrel to get a secure hold, it was just resting lightly on the forarm/magazine tube. If my off-hand shooting with a 22 was any indication... it would only cloud the issue

You're not cross eye dominant are you?

Heh, it depends on the day. I was closing my left eye though and trying to sight it like a rifle, and was shooting 3 other rifles that day (scoped and irons) and was doing well off the bench.

So I'd like to think that if I can tweek the stock a bit, I'll be reasonably centered, but that may be far-fetched.

I'll probably look into a TRS25 or rather the Primary Arms equivalent, just waiting on a hopeful memorial day sale.

If that's the case, I'm thinking perhaps a quick fix would be to install a mid-bead. It'll let you check your gun mount, if the 2 beads don't line up, you'll be able to tell instantly.

I have it on my Benelli SuperSport and I use it to check my gun mount when shooting trap. I also use it to aim the shotgun like a rifle when shooting buckshots.

That also does something similar as lining up a mid bead. You can't see the bead if your eye isn't directly behind it.

Otherwise I'd say pad/shim/move your stock until you're eye is lined up. Padding the left side of the stock should move your point of impact to the left.

A simple rule of thumb; works with all firearms. Move the rear sight in the direction you want the bullet to go.

With the absence of a rear sight, you are tilting your head way over the comb of the stock? I know that I was instructed to keep both eyes as perpendicular as possible to the barrel and reciever.
