UTAS working on semi-auto UTS-15

Not legal in California if it's semi auto IIRC, it holds too many rounds or something, check flow chartLast edited by alfred1222; 05-05-2014, 12:18 PM.Originally posted by KestryllThis guy is a complete and total idiot.

Most of the reviews UTAS and KSG have been pretty awful, why would one want a semi-auto version of the UTAS that will break and jam even more than the pump? Other than the increase in ammo capacity, it seems as if this and the KSG were expressly created for fans of video games. Not that there is anything wrong with creating fantasy looking guns. But for functionality, practicality and value, both this and the KSG kind of seem to be sub-par when compared to traditional defensive shotguns that can be bought for one half to one third of the cost. Other than as a range toy, is there any other appeal for the real world? And I write this as the owner of a Remington 870 AOW, probably the least practical range toy one can own in a shotgun. It is just purely for fun and for my friends to shoot so I get the appeal of toys.NRA Certified Metallic Cartridge Reloading Instructor, Shotgun Instructor and Range Safety Officer

Most of those reviews were early models, and both UTAS and KSG have done a lot of tweaking and improving since then. I have a first year production UTS-15 that's run flawlessly. I'm not disputing that there are a lot of bad reviews, but it's not the last word. Most of the reviews UTAS and KSG have been pretty awful, why would one want a semi-auto version of the UTAS that will break and jam even more than the pump? Even if I lived in a free state, I think a Mossberg 930 SPX would be my choice over this new UTAS semi-auto. The only thing these have over traditional designs is a bunch of plastic, a funky, futuristic look and the ability to hold a ridiculous amount of shells.
But glad they sell them, more choice for gun owners is always better.NRA Certified Metallic Cartridge Reloading Instructor, Shotgun Instructor and Range Safety Officer

I went to a two day shotgun training at Front Sight a few months ago and one of the students used a UTAS. He spent more time off the line fixing the gun than he did on the line shooting it. I've heard similar reports from other sources too. I wouldn't waste my money on it.sigpic
