I started shooting trap 3 months ago up at Chabot.
Walked up to the line told them a was brand new to it and asked for some advice.
They where extremely helpful and got me started on the right foot.
They went over the correct choke and where to aim for each station.
It was a blast and I have been back most weekends.
I just shot my first 25 straight the other weekend.
    Good luck and have fun.
There is nothing to fear just be safe.

Step up and just do it . Tell your shooting partners you are new and will take all tips and advice given . Follow good safety practice and ask about proper etiquette . They will tell you , believe that .

So , trap to me is easy . Its boring after a bit but it will give you some important fundamentals . I like five stand myself . Skeet will teach you to keep moving . Something to take as another building block to become a better sport shooter .

So , lets say you are behind the trap house and call pull . What I have learned is if you get it before it grows up then its easier . So call pull , follow the bird up , as soon as your barrel covers the target pull the trigger . That's for hitting it while it rises .

If its falling then it gets trickier . Stay below the bird by about 3"-4" as you see it above the barrel . 99% of shooters will shoot over the top of their target .

This is addicting , enjoy .
