Well, here's one for the Remington 870.

I own 3 Wingmasters in different configurations.

I have both. The 870 is a 1970s vintage and seems to have a more finely tuned design, while the 500 must have been dreamed up by some former Soviet tanker. Both work great. Guess which is my bird gun and which is for HD.

I own a 870 Big 5 special: 18.5" barrel, 2 shot extension, hi viz follower. I added a surefire fore end, 6 shot side saddle, and a Speedfeed IV-s stock. (I'm a sucker for tacticool goodies ).

For me personally I choose the Remmy 870 for hunting and the Mossy 500 for home defense. I'm not sure why but it might be because I started out hunting with an 870.

I have both but prefer the 870. The 870 feels better plus mine is a left hand model which is nice no powder burns on the nose.

I'm about to ditch my M590A1 for a Police 870. The remington has better balance, shorter length of pull, and wood furniture

My issue with the Mossberg is that it's like a pair of 18x80 binoculars: really cool, but *jeezus* the thing is muzzle heavy (especially loaded). After building my first AR CAR - a heavy barrel 16", even -- I have less patience with non-fast-handling longarms.

Also - I didn't realize this when I bought my Mossy some years ago -- the Remington has an Improve Cylinder choke -- just slightly constricted -- whereas the Mossberg has a Cylinder. Accordingly rifled slugs perform a bit better.

Finally - for those of you who care about such things - I bought the Mossberg because I am a lefty, and the ambi-safety appealed to me.

But - I can use the Remy safety as-is.

The mossberg is more of a HD shotgun in my opinion so i would pefer my mossberg 590. The remington 870 is about as good but i did not like where the safety is. Its seems these threads pop up a every few months but both of the guns are great and the only thing it comes down to is personal preference.
