I have a fairly new Remington 870 12 ga. with a straight stock and I'd like to install a pistol grip stock on it. Is this difficult to do? Are there any instructions I can look at to give me the procedure? And can anyone recommend a specific brand...there seems to be so many to choose from... Thanks in advance for any info...

I recently installed a Speedfeed IV-s on my 870. Used phillips screw driver to remove the recoil pad on the old stock. Then used a long handle flat tip screw driver to remove the long screw(?) that holds the stock on the receiver. Reverse the process to install the new stock. I like the IV-s because it has a shorter length of pull. I'm not a small person, but I like a shorter shotgun for HD use.
This 870 has the same stock as mine:

Taking the stock off and putting a new one on is pretty simple as gmcal stated. I had a speed feed on my 870, but now it wears a knoxx stock. They are both worth checking out.sigpicIf you loan someone twenty dollars and never see them again, it was probably worth it.

Just received & installed Speedfeed 4-s but now Questions
Hi everyone...it's me again...I received the Speedfeed 4-S stock and like you all said it was no problem at all. However, when I installed the rubber recoil pad that came with it, it was about 1/4" short...the holes lined up OK but at the bottom end (the thinner end) it was short and won't cover the entire butt end. The other question I have is that there is a large opening in the bottom of the pistol grip section - the instructions say something about plugging the hole with a rubber plug (?) but none was included. Any thoughts on this? Thanks once again for your help...your input is invaluable.Comment
