Are you sure your range will let you use 3" shells? Better check to be sure. -
$27 for a case of 250 rounds? That's a screaming deal.Comment

I think those are 4-box 100 rounds pack. Like this one:

I think his case is 25 rounds. For practice use lowbase field loads to get used to handling shotgun and reloading. Costs about $25 bucks for 100 pack at wallyworld. That shot will be hard on the barrel if using for practice. hevi metal are pricey non lead.Comment

I have used Hevi-metal duck hunting.
They come in a 25 round box, 10 boxes per flat.
There is no way he is buying a case for $27.00.
Yes, $27.00 a box, but not for a case.
If he can get it for that price for a case, I want to know where because I would buy all that they have.

^^^ What we said. The other posters are clueless. I would stock up if it was $27 case. When I go duck hunting for couple days my ammo costs can run over 100 bucks easy. If he is in sfv I will trade 2 boxes of new federal target loads for that box of hevi shot.Comment

Some ranges have limits to what you can shoot, some don't.will Hevi-Metal Waterfowl 12 Gauge 3" 1-1/4oz 6 Shot.....work for range target practice
Where I do most of my shooting it's 7.5, 8 or 9, 2-3/4 shells only.
Another range I go to on occasion allows anything but slugs.
Check with your local range for any restrictions..."A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed"Comment

Yeah that price isn't right. If you just want to go "bang" a lot of times cheap target/field loads will do it for you. Check Walmart and the e-tailers.
For the cheap stuff I like Remington Fields or Gun Clubs (very reloadable if that's important to you) and Estates (made in USA---NOT the white box import) RIO is also well worth considering and often found a bit lower cost than the big three (Remington/Winchester/ Federal-Estate) but I'm a luddite and can't wrap my brain around 12 gauge shells that aren't either green or red-ish

BTW- for general info, a case = 10 cartons with 25 shells to a carton = 250 shells per case.Comment

So those of us who took the OP at his word are "clueless" huh?
I am WELL aware of how many shells are in a case, which was why I asked for verification of the actual quantity involved. Personally (unlike some people it seems) I tend to take what someone says at face value until proven otherwise. The OP stated a price for a "CASE" and while it was extremely low (hence my post) how are we to know what type of hookup he might be getting on the price.
But hey, smooth move on assuming the OP and others are just idiots. Great way to make friends and influence people.Comment

Yes if you took him at his word you are clueless. Especially if you posted you found it at that price. Probably just started in shotgunning.Comment
-
I never said I found anything at any price. And how do you know the OP didn't have a friend that was disposing of his unneeded shells and was giving the OP a screaming deal? The OP's post didn't provide info as to where he was getting the shells.
Nice you hold everyone you meet in such high regard. You must be a ton of fun at parties. Helps explain why you are so worried in another thread about why other people might have too much ammo you personally find no need for.Comment

No, its about the worst shell to use for range target pratice...there are many better choices that a range will allow you to shoot.Comment
