    Beretta UGB25 Xcel

I was out shooting trap at Coyote Valley today and saw one of the craziest shotgun design, a Beretta UGB25 Xcel. It is a break action, 2-shot semi-automatic.

    This one: http://www.beretta.com/en-us/ugb25-xcel/

Beautiful wood, high rib for trap shooting and with "Beretta" stenciled on the front of the rib. Very nice looking shotgun and a semi-automatic that is also a break action. You break open the gun, load 1 shell, and load another on side loading port. After shooting the 1st shell, it gets ejected from the bottom and the one on the side gets loaded. Pretty awesome. I want one too.

I chatted and shot with the guy who owns it, he is clearly very good with it and that gun shoots beautifully.

Does anyone else use this shotgun?

The UGB was not received very well by the trap shooting community. I believe Beretta has discontinued production but I could be wrong as it is shown on the website. The gun was extremely expensive when new and a lot of shops were blowing this gun out for a very low price a couple of years ago. One dealer I have dealt with for years sold a boat loads of Beretta's and had a hard time selling this shotgun. I was able to shoot one a while back and it made a clanging sound when cycling. It put the shot where I put the barrel and the bottom ejection is nice for left handers. I could not get used to the noise it made and the extra shell sitting on the side of the receiver.

If you want to do shooting target or for home safety then Beretta is nice option to buy. It is reliable, accurate, good trigger feel and over all fit and finish. There are many website where you will get at affordable price.

I also shot one, while it was okay, it was not like "Wow, I gotta get one!" good.

Looks aren't everything....and yes they are hard to sell and the design is nowhere near as 'polished' as it should be.

It was an answer to a question, no one asked.
