    My 870 (HD boom stick)

Just figured I'd share how I have my 870 setup. This is my go to home defense gun if I can get to it quick enough. I have a carry permit so I always have a pistol on my person but wouldn't mind grabbing this if SHTF. It's loaded with 6 rounds of Federal Flitecontrol LE132-00 buckshot w/ 6 more on the saddle.

Started as an 870 express from Big 5 w/ 28" barrel.

    Added:
-Parkerized 18.5" Improved Cylinder w/ bead sight.
    -Wilson Combat +2 extension
-Hogue over molded 12" length of pull stock
    -Hogue forend
    -Elzetta light mount
    -Surefire G2X light
    -Specter Gear 2 point sling
-Mesa Tactical 6 round side saddle
    -Midwest Industries endplate sling attachment
    -Remington non-mim extractor

Weighs in at almost exactly 9.2 pounds fully loaded and as pictured. (8 pounds unloaded)

The only thing I would consider doing differently is getting the Surefire forend w/ attached light. I don't currently have the funds so this will suffice for now.

Very nice! How do you like that sling? I was thinking about picking one up so I can use it on both my 870 and 590A1.

I haven't used it in any classes yet, but from just fiddling around with it at home it seems to work as designed. One thing to note is that because I'm running the shorter 12" LOP stock, where the sling wraps around the stock (the velcro portion of the webbing) was almost too long. This is because the shorter stock is also quite a bit thinner as well. I had to add more velcro to compensate for the extra webbing that had no velcro to attach to. It cost me 3 dollars in velcro and an additional 5 bucks at a shoe repair shop who sewed it on for me. (took like 3 minutes)

None of this matters, though, if you are running the original size stock or similar. Just thought you should know.

Perfect, but for me I would remove the sling while it serves for HD. That thing will hang up on anything and at the worst time. You put solid duty quality stuff on the weapon and kept all the fool mess off of it. I award it the AI&P Tactical "Two Thumbs and a Pecker Straight Up" Award

Doesn't Specter Gear make one for reduced LOP stocks?

Well if they do then I would get it rather than doing what I did. Just less of a headache. I didn't see any made for the shorter LOP stocks at the gun store I was at. Maybe they have them online?

Congrats on taking a good quality gun, and enhancing it with quality aftermarket parts. Looks like a good setup. I like the fixed light as well or better than the Surefire set-up.

However, lose the sling! It is unneeded and will hinder you inside your home. I have crept around in lots of houses in the dark with a shotgun and slings are no bueno. Most of our guys would take them off the duty guns.

In reality, what purpose does it serve anyway? In what situation will you need to sling a long gun inside your home? It will be in your hands at the ready until the police arrive, at which time it will be placed on the deck.

Yea I like simple and to me this was almost pushing the "tactical" envelope too far. After doing some classes I will reevaluate what worked and what didn't.

I guess it depends on what your preferences are. During classes I prefer to have a sling on my long guns to help retain the weapon whether I'm transitioning to sidearm or need to use both hands for doing a task. But your point is well taken, along with aippi, and I understand that it's a tradeoff either way you go.

That is a very solid sling whether in a house, at the range or in the field. When worn correctly it will lock the gun in place and provide a very stable position to shoot from which is desirable no matter what.

Whats your pattern look like using the ImpCyl?

I have a Surefire forend on my 870 and a setup like the one you currently have on my Benelli. If I had to do over again, I would NOT get the Surefire forend. The downside to the Surefire is that it cannot be easily removed. It's nice having the ability to take the light off when I'm going to the range or shooting clays or something. The Surefire forend is also heavier.

Sweet setup. If I were to get a sling for my shotgun it would probably be the Spectre Gear.
