No light = Tactically unsound. Thought you knew!

Tape a floodlight to it bro! Make it a Khyber-Compton special.

If my wife or I hear an intruder in the middle of the night, we'll turn on our bedroom lights and call 911. Then we'll hunker down and wait, armed and ready. It is our "safe room." If the bad guy comes in, boom. That is our plan, so no need for a mounted flashlight in that scenario.

Wandering around in a dark house with a mounted light, looking for trouble is foolish.

        Your gun looks great.

And you're usually not home. No gun or light needed in that case, bro.

Do you even shoot in the dark, bro?

You should try that sometime! It's one thing to be a Tactical Bro Ninja Who Buys Anything, it's another thing to be sitting in the dark, pretty much blind, trying to decide whether to drop the hammer in the direction of that sound you think you hear.

I guess I'm just owned by the gun light sales rep! He is a very persuasive guy!

As long as life conforms to your hypothetical scenario, you are absolutely right.

Things don't always happen according to plan. I was trained to prepare for every eventuality imaginable. A daylight entry by an adversary who chooses to take his time and wait for the cops to show up is only one of many. It may be the most likely, but you really have to ask yourself, "Are you feeling lucky today?!?!"

I'm not criticizing the guys gun, and I'm not trying to make anybody look bad, but for crying out loud. In the seventies we did things one way, but forty years later we might have come up with a better way.

I am in the "what if" and "be prepared" crowd. While I also believe in calling 911 and hunkering down, if I can't light them up, I might hesitate to shoot and be shot myself while hesitating. That or **** happens I might end up shooting an innocent.

Get a light. Even if you don't need it for shooting it can be used as an emergency backup flashlight.

Wow. Some of these comments are funny. Although some of you may I am willing to put money on it that most of you don't have the knowledge or training to clear a house in the middle of the night, light or not. Staying put is generally the best option for all. Backs against the wall with a clear view of things in front of you. Just my 2 cents.

If I am in my house and everyone I live with is with me, I am not got to hesitate to shoot if the door opens.

Wow. Some of these comments scare me. Hope the power doesn't go out. Blasting at opening doors is a great idea too. Better make sure the wife never goes out of town or who's holding your flashlight for you?

I don't know about you guys but I don't call 911 every time something falls over in my house. I grab the gun with the light and do a quick walk through. It's not ideal but if I had called 911 every time a broom fell over in the closet 911 would no longer be responding.

For those in the "no light" crowd no one ever said you need to use it. It's just better to have one in case. The best laid plans go to hell in a heartbeat.

Used Surefire incandescent forends can be had for as little as $150 now if you look around. The 65 lumens is adequate enough to get the job done at typical indoor home distances. There are also affordable options for LED upgrades if need be.

Like the police during raids I've watched on TV. But for the average person, why go looking for trouble? In a dark house, with no backup. If something happens to you, your family could be helpless. I don't agree with this.

Wait for the trouble to come to you. Yes, blast away at the opening door. After firmly establishing that you are armed and will shoot upon entry.
