I've been considering taking the hunter safety class there too, can you post back with feedback on how was it? Thanks.

Shot there yesterday and tried the new personal barcode system. Instead of filling up their waiver form in paper, you can now do it online or on their computer. You get assigned a permanent barcode on your phone and just let them scan it upon checking in. It makes things a lot faster.

I will have to try the barcode.

I didnt want to make a new thread so hopefully you'll see this.

Off the top of my head.
-The class is 8am-5pm Saturday and Sunday.
-Taught by 5 -6 different people changing up every 1-2 hours.
-You get a break in the morning and then lunch, break in the afternoon.
-There's a book they passed out and the instructors jump all around the chapters. It's really interactive where they ask questions and ask for answers.
-Cool powder burning demonstration. Also shot a cabbage demonstration.
-The field was muddy so we didnt get to do live fire Saturday, but we got to shoot arrows on Sunday.
-Very family oriented, lots of kids.
-Take notes, Read the book and answer the practice test and you'll probably do fine.
-Its a hunting class, any Home Defense talk or questions, etc, etc will be deferred to break.
-The sheriffs were supposed to come in and talk Sunday, but they were probably busy so they didnt.
-You take the test on Sunday around 3pm, 100 questions and need 80% to pass.

I could go on and on, but its a class $15.00, I missed 2(for wording I felt was confusing), I passed, got my card.

Oh and there's always those special people that just don't get it.

And thanks for the info, I was at there yesterday morning on the trap field and I met another group of members, we chatted and they too encouraged me to get the card. I'll find a weekend and sign up for the class.

Did you guys go to Coyote Valley today? I was there with my wife at the trap field in the morning. It was pretty crowded and a lot of new shooters, had one guy swept me with his shotgun while I was cleaning up after my shoot.

Sometimes I wish they have more staff during busy times to monitor safety issues. Some new semi-automatic shotgun shooters don't realize because they can't break open their shotguns, they're supposed to point the barrel up when walking and not swing them side to side or point it in front of them.

It got pretty windy later in the morning too, I've not seen a trap clay change direction before until this morning.
