Swapping the stock on an 870

My question is this, how complicated is swapping the stock on a remington 870 shotgun? And while I'm at it, is there anything that I can't do as far as stocks are concerned here in CA?

Very simple and straightforward. Check out YouTube. If you are near Fresno I'll do it for free.

It is really an easy swap. I did it in less than 10 minutes. As long as the overall length is not less than 30 inches...you're g2g. You can choose any stock you like.

As always, the type of screwdriver helps determine if the screw holes in the butt pad will be visable after the swap.

Midway USA has videos on u tube showing the process.

Pump guns are generally not impacted by all of the crazy CA laws.
Well generally not impacted on mods, not transportation. (+15 mag extensions are prohibited - I think)

Get a good stock if you mush change out the OEM model.
Rule 1- ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED

Rule 2 -NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT PREPARED TO DESTROY (including your hands and legs)

Rule 3 -KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET

Rule 4 -BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET AND WHAT IS BEYOND IT
          (thanks to Jeff Cooper)

Here is a tip for you. Use a #2 phillips screw driver to remove the recoil pad. Spray oil on it so it turns freely in the pad and the pad is not grabbing it. I have a lady in my shop that breaks down the new 870 that come in and I use to build on and she will break down as many as 20 at a time. Every time she goes to remove the recoil pad the sprays the screw driver with Rem oil and states " don't forget to lube your tool boys". Heard it hundreds of times and still laugh every time.

If you're going to a gun fight, take a shotgun. If you can't take a shotgun, don't go.
